
LCFB Foundation Scholarships Awarded
Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships Awarded
The Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation has awarded scholarships to five area students. Jordan Flewellyn, Lee, was the recipient of the Dean Henkel Memorial Scholarship. Flewellyn will be majoring in Animal Science/Pre-Vet at the University of Illinois in the fall. Flewellyn is the daughter of John and Carri Flewellyn. The Dean Henkel Memorial Scholarship was created in 2006 in honor of long-time Lee County farmer Dean Henkel for his leadership and volunteerism in the Lee County Farm Bureau organization.
William Henert, Ashton, was selected as the recipient of the Larry J. Green Memorial Scholarship. Henert will be attending Joliet Junior College in the fall to pursue a major in Crop Science. Henert is the son of Nolan and Linda Henert. The Larry J. Green Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 to honor long-time Lee County Farm Bureau Manager, Larry J. Green, for his more than 30 years of service to the organization.
The Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships were awarded to Brent Ewald, Amboy, and Ethan Sprung, LaMoille. Ewald will be majoring in Ag Business at Blackhawk East in the fall. Ewald is the son of Steve and Karen Becker. Sprung is the son of Lori and Mike Sprung and will be attending Iowa State University pursuing a major in Animal Science.
For the first time this year, the Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation also awarded a scholarship to a current undergraduate student. Andrew Bulfer, Amboy, was the recipient of the Foundation’s first Undergraduate Scholarship. Bulfer is currently a senior at Western Illinois University studying agriculture.
The Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation began awarding scholarships in 1992 and has since provided scholarships to 42 students pursuing degrees in an agricultural-related field of study.
Besides being a high school senior or undergraduate student, applicants must also be a Farm Bureau member or dependents of a Farm Bureau member, must exhibit financial need and potential to successfully complete the field of study, and needs to meet certain selection criteria, based on leadership and achievements in agriculture, community and scholastic activities.
