This year, over 36 million Americans will struggle with hunger, including 13 million children. That is why the Lee County Farm Bureau Young Farmer Committee is sponsoring a Harvest for All Food Drive that will kick off on Thursday, July 22 at the Lee County 4-H Fair and Junior Show. The food drive will run through Saturday, August 8. Donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Lee County Farm Bureau booth at the 4-H fair (July 22 – 25) or the Lee County Farm Bureau office during regular business hours through August 15. All items collected will be donated to the food pantries in Lee County. If you have any questions regarding the food drive or if you would like more information about the Lee County Farm Bureau, contact (815) 857-3531 or leecfb@comcast.net. 

The District 4 Meeting will be held on Monday, August 23 at the Quality Inn in Dixon. A complimentary meal is served at 5:30 p.m., with a presentation by Nic Anderson, Illinois Livestock Development Group and Mark Gebhardts, Illinois Farm Bureau following the meal.   Candidates for District 4 director will also be given the opportunity to speak to the membership.  All members from the Lee County Farm Bureau are invted.  Please RSVP to the Farm Bureau office by Friday, August 13, (815) 857-3531 or leecfb@comcast.net if you plan to attend. 

the Lee County Farm Bureau® will be hosting its 16^th Annual Farm Visit Day on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The general public is invited to visit a local grain farm, learn about the conservation practices, and have the opportunity to speak to area farmers. Busses will load at Woodhaven Association in Sublette and take you to visit the host farm. Admission is free, however, a reservation ticket is required to board the bus. Tickets are available at the Woodhaven Association Main Office, 815-849-5200.

Visitors to the farm will get a better understanding of grain and wind production in Illinois and will have the opportunity to mingle and experience multiple exhibits and displays, as well as enjoy a guided tour of the farm and a complimentary lunch. There is something for everyone to enjoy – it’s a great place to bring the family!
